In 2025, with so many changes happening in my life, I kept my online presence to a minimum. Most of what I shared was work-related. In a world where online trolls seem ready to pounce on anyone whose opinions differ from their own, putting your life out there can feel a little intimidating. And as I was navigating a divorce, I made the decision to keep things private and respectful. Some chapters of life are better lived quietly.
But while it may have seemed like I’d disappeared, I hadn’t. I was out there traveling, exploring, and experiencing a whole new world. I just wasn’t sharing them with everyone else.
So, here I am, a little over a year later, ready to start catching up!
Las Vegas was my first trip with Bruce, and it was a birthday gift. I was so excited, but I was also a little nervous. Trust has never come easily to me, and traveling with someone new was a leap of faith. What if I got there and had to figure out how to get myself home? What if I ended up chopped into tiny pieces and became the subject of a true-crime documentary?
My mind tends to jump straight to the absolute worst-case scenario. Apparently, a perfectly nice birthday trip wasn’t enough to keep my imagination from working overtime!
Thankfully, Bruce and I got along remarkably well; I made it home in one piece, and I’m still here to tell the story.
Although this wasn’t a particularly long trip, it was packed with so many activities and adventures that squeezing everything into one post would be a bit much. So, I’ve decided to break the trip down day by day. That way, I can share more experiences, photos, and little details that made the trip memorable without giving you a novel to read in one sitting.
I’m looking forward to sharing these adventures with you, along with bringing back some of my older, recovered blog posts that mean so much to me. I’m not just rebuilding a blog; I’m rebuilding a record of my life.
Although I seriously considered letting my blog go—after all, it’s not exactly a cheap hobby—I ultimately decided to keep it. I realized that documenting my life means more to me than I sometimes give it credit for. Having had loved ones who have dealt with diseases that are sometimes common with aging has changed the way I think about memories. I want to preserve the little details of my own life: the places I’ve visited, the things I’ve seen, the people I’ve loved, and the experiences that have shaped me. These are the pieces of my story I don’t want to lose.
If I ever struggle to remember my own story, I hope I can come back here and read about it. And if the day ever comes when reading is no longer possible, at least I’ll have my photographs.
Life changes. People change. Circumstances change. And sometimes, the best thing we can do is keep moving forward, find a little adventure, and remember to laugh along the way.
So, let’s head to Las Vegas! Day one is coming up, and I promise to keep the tiny-piece-of-me scenario to a minimum.
