Day three was so much fun! By this point, Bruce and I had fallen into an easy rhythm. Although he wasn’t a coffee drinker, he cheerfully got up early to bring me coffee before heading to the casino.
That morning, much to my surprise, he also returned with a made-to-order omelet and bacon, knowing I must be starving. I definitely hadn’t been overeating on this trip! I would have taken a picture, except that I ate it too quickly. Some things are just too good to wait for a photo.
After breakfast, I wandered through the Bellagio shops, window-shopping my way into every store. It was my first time exploring so many luxury boutiques, and I was pleasantly surprised by how friendly the sales associates were. Of course, I realized they were hoping to make a sale, but that didn’t make the experience any less enjoyable! I loved trying on clothes and touching and feeling all those beautiful pieces. There’s something special about experiencing luxury items in person rather than simply admiring them online. And yes, I could see a difference in quality. It really isn’t just about the logo.
When Bruce found me, I was at Hermès.
I’ve always loved wearing Hermès twilly scarves as wrist wraps. I had purchased one years ago, so I knew I’d get plenty of use out of another. They’re also lovely tied around a ponytail, a purse handle for a pop of color, or worn as a neck accessory. I’m much more likely to spend money on accessories I can enjoy for years rather than something that will sit in my closet after one season.
Bruce helped me choose one, and I bought it. Since this was technically my birthday trip, I decided it was perfectly acceptable to buy myself a birthday present. And what better souvenir than something beautiful I’ll wear for years to come?
We decided on lunch at Amaya at the Cosmopolitan Hotel.
I opted for a glass of wine since breakfast had still satisfied me. I’m more of a two-meals-a-day kind of girl anyway. Bruce, on the other hand, ordered the largest taco salad I’d ever seen. Amaya is known for their taco salads. The photo doesn’t even do it justice. It was as large as my head!

While he worked his way through that ginormous lunch, I had plenty of time to admire my new scarf. Naturally, I put it on immediately. If I buy something, you can bet I’ll enjoy it to the fullest. There’s no point in saving something pretty for a special occasion when you can enjoy it right now!

After lunch, we headed to the Chandelier Bar at the Cosmopolitan. This was high on our must-do list because we’d heard about a drink called the Verbenia that supposedly numbs your mouth. We couldn’t wait to try it!

Surprisingly, it was delicious. Read more about it here.
You’re supposed to sip the drink first and then eat the flower. Once you eat it, the numbing sensation spreads through your mouth in sections, making each sip taste different. It was a unique experience, and it became our favorite drink of the trip.

We also lucked out with our timing. Since we arrived early, we received personal service and didn’t have to fight the crowds. If you’re planning a trip to Las Vegas, I’d definitely recommend visiting on a weekday. The crowds were noticeably lighter than on weekends.
After lunch, we planned to spend some time at the pool. On our way back to the room, I stopped to take a picture of the pretty gardens. The pool area was beautiful, too, and I was looking forward to relaxing in the sunshine.

We had barely settled into our lounge chairs when a storm rolled in.

Suddenly, everyone was scrambling for shelter at the outdoor bar. Before long, lightning forced them to close the entire bar area. Apparently, it hadn’t rained in weeks. Of course they hadn’t! We’d finally made time for the pool, and Mother Nature had other plans.
Although our pool plans were dampened, our spirits weren’t. In fact, the unexpected change gave me the perfect opportunity for a much-needed nap.
I sometimes feel guilty about napping on vacation, as though I should make the most of every minute. But the truth is, traveling can be exhausting. Sometimes, a little rest is exactly what you need to enjoy the rest of the adventure.
While I napped, Bruce returned to the casino.
Later, I got dressed for the evening in a skirt that was probably a thousand years old and, thankfully, a pair of shoes that didn’t hurt my feet. I absolutely LOVE that I can wear sparkles every day in Las Vegas and no one thinks twice about it. Honestly, I could get used to that kind of lifestyle!

We ate at one of the hotel’s restaurants, and my dinner was perfectly acceptable. After the previous night’s disappointment, I was grateful for a decent meal. I even had a few bites of dessert, which was good, too. Sometimes, it’s the little things!

After dinner, we climbed back into the “boot” and headed out for our next adventure.

This time, we went to a burlesque show, Rouge, and it turned out to be surprisingly good. The costumes were fantastic, the performances were entertaining, and the show was far more tasteful than I might have expected. What is Las Vegas without a little burlesque? No wonder Bruce is smiling. He particularly enjoyed the show!

By Vegas standards, it was an early night for us. Our biggest adventure yet was waiting for us the next day, and we needed to be well-rested.
After all, plenty of Las Vegas was still left to explore!
