Girl friendships can sometimes be a tricky thing. You probably know what I’m talking about….
To explain, girl friendships must have the right balance and require patience and trust.
Some people make friendships very easily and have large circles of friends. But that’s not me.
Growing up, I was always happy spending time alone, or with my family. It seemed like a lot of effort to maintain girl friendships. As a teen, I actually had far more male friends than female friends. I found it easier to talk to guys.
However, I did value my few close girlfriends. Those were the friends with whom it felt natural and effortless to spend time.
As I’ve gotten older- and wiser- I find that I truly value the time I spend with other women. It’s much easier to make connections and I’ve discovered that women aren’t nearly as judgmental as I once thought- myself included. Women understand each other and we all have certain things in common. Once a friendship blossoms, we can be fiercely loyal and truthful.
This weekend, I was honored to have one of my friends throw a girls’ winery party to celebrate my elopement. It was such a great day!
I met many new girls and enjoyed every moment of girl time. Two of my former students even attended! How fantastic is that?!
Here are a few highlights from the celebration…..
We visited Cloer Family Vineyards. There were lots of outside tables and it was a beautiful place to spend the day. I’m pretty sure we sweated away any wine we drank.
The wines were tasty! I preferred Carlos- it was not too sweet, but very refreshing on such a hot day!
My friend, Desiree, who threw the party, brought the prettiest cake and cookies! I mean, seriously, those cookies were fantastic! They were made by Sugar Rush.
I forgot to take a picture of the goody bags, but you can peek it in the picture. Every detail of the party was perfectly coordinated!
We spent a few hours sipping wine and snacking, bonding over girl talk. I can only hope our table neighbors didn’t hear our conversations!
After the winery, we ate at Cowfish. We posed on the handpainted wall. Do you know how difficult it was to act like we were sitting on a painted swing? Remind me that I need to do more squats!
If you’ve never tried Cowfish, you should. The atmosphere was fun and the food was tasty! Since I’m not a meat-eater, I opted for the California roll and edamame.
Look at the dessert we all shared. YUM!
It was the perfect day!
So much time and effort were made by everyone who attended the girls’ day and I’m beyond appreciative.
Friendships are born in many different ways. I’m so thankful for all of my friends, old and new, and those for those that are yet to come.
I love this new girlfriend chapter in my life! Friendship is the gift that keeps giving.
