I think I made my bucket list a bit too large.
Clearly, I forgot that I had a job, a house, and a million other obligations. I realized, rather quickly, that I’d have to pencil in my bucket list activities on my calendar if I wanted to check off any items at all. Doesn’t it seem crazy to have to schedule fun activities, just as I do my chores? I think of “fun” as spontaneous adventures, not more things that need to be done.
But then I realized…
I haven’t been having as much fun lately because I have failed to plan the things that I truly want to do. In this adult life full of responsibility, I’ve faced the reality that I’m just going to have to schedule fun if I want it to happen.
So I scheduled the fun things, and crazy busy or not, I’ve started checking them off of my fall bucket list. You can find that list here.
Make a Fall Salad– Although there are still more fall salads I’d like to try, I’m loving this blackberry and sweet potato salad right now. The colors are so pretty! You can find this recipe linked here. We air-fried the sweet potatoes and Eric cooks them especially crisp for me. Yeah, it’s a french fry salad!
Decorate for Fall– I hadn’t planned to purchase anything new this year. However, I added a couple of new things to my Mackenzie Child’s collection this fall. I’m loving both pumpkins! I almost sent the checkered pumpkin back because it was so much larger than I thought it would be. But I’m glad I decided to keep it. Then I added this adorable handmade pumpkin that I bought at the Arts Council’s Art Market. These are all treasures I’ll enjoy for years to come.
Host a Craft Afternoon- I didn’t exactly “host” anyone except myself, but I’m counting my earring-making afternoons. As I have been preparing to sell earrings, I’ve had lots of wine-sipping crafternoons.
New Fall Nail Polish- As you know, Olive and June is my favorite because it lasts an entire week. I ordered the whole pumpkin spice set and I love all of the colors! Are you a matching mani and pedi kind of girl? I usually like my fingernails to match my toenails. However, I’ve been loving the nude color on my nails, with darker toenails. You can find Olive and June here. I love that they don’t have harsh chemicals, too. With this coupon code, you can get 20% off a system. Although I have the mani and the pedi systems, the pedicure system is my favorite!
Pumpkin Spice Latte- This has been my daily afternoon pick-me-up. I rarely use my Keurig for lattes during the spring and summer, but I use it daily during cold weather. There are so many things you can make with it! I like to froth a little sugar-free creamer with water. It works perfectly and cuts calories. You can find this awesome Keurig linked here. It’s on sale and I think the price is pretty reasonable, considering how often I use it.
Volunteer- I’ve been volunteering at the Arts Council every chance I get. Can you really count it as volunteering if it’s so much fun?
As I am still continuing to check things off my list, I’ve decided that I need to extend my bucket list until Thanksgiving. Technically, that’s still fall, right?
If you’ve never made a bucket list, you must try it! It inspires you to do the things you feel are important! Get out there and live your best life!
