It’s finally that time! I’ve checked a few things off of my fall bucket list and I’m ready to share the fun!
While it’s been exciting to work on my fall bucket list, I’m seriously craving a weather change. Y’all, I’m tired of the hot temps. Where is my cool and crisp fall weather?
I admit that patience has never been my virtue…
I want all of the goodness of fall right now!
Halloween is only a few short weeks away, so I’ve realized I’d better speed up the fulfillment of my list before fall passes me by. Maybe on Sunday, I’ll turn down the AC, put on a sweater, and decorate till my heart feels full of fall joy!
Until then, here are a few things I’ve checked off my fall bucket list…
//A Football Game//
Yuck.
If you know me, you know that’s how I feel about football. I’ve never been a sports person. Eric is the only husband I’ve had who’s been enthusiastic about football. He rarely misses an NCSU game. His name is even on a column, proving his loyalty and dedication to NCSU. Crazy, but true. Here’s the proof…..
I do admit that I am more than a little proud of him. His father was once a professor there, and Eric works to keep his dad’s memory alive. I love that!
But honestly, for the life of me, I just don’t understand why everyone gets excited over adult-ish men running back and forth over a ball when there are so many productive things to be done. Shouldn’t they be studying or working instead? I worked all of the way through college, so I just don’t get college sports.
However, this Saturday, whether I liked it or not, I fulfilled my promise to go to one game per season.
And all of a sudden, I got it!
Like a bolt of lightning, I totally “got” the whole game thing. I had fun tailgating and socializing with Eric’s friends. I realized that it doesn’t necessarily have to be about the game. Honestly, I didn’t even watch the game. l was completely oblivious to anything that was happening. However, I completely enjoyed a relaxing Saturday without housework or yard work, and without guilt for the lack thereof. The excitement and energy of the environment were thrilling. The drinks and snacks were a little off my diet and were soooo good. I especially had fun people-watching and looking for red and black outfit inspiration! Creative fashion is my passion!
The Unplanned Adventure
Our day went so well, that we decided to continue our adventure by staying in Raleigh overnight. With no bags packed.
Yes, shocking! Can you believe I did that?
I mean, really….. I plan everything. All. The. Time.
An impromptu hotel stay was totally out of character for both of us, but wound up being so much fun! It’s a memory we will talk about for years to come. Since our hotel had bathrobes (always ask for bathrobes- even if they don’t advertise), we didn’t need much. We made a quick stop by a drugstore to purchase toothbrushes and toothpaste. I also found the cutest bar towel. This moment in time was truly worthy of a souvenir!
We literally checked into the hotel with NO LUGGAGE! Y’all, I’ll have to blog about all of this in further detail! We had a ball! We made so many memories (as well as a few silly videos to document our adventure) and it truly refreshed us. One of the best things? There was absolutely nothing to unpack when we got home! I was even able to survive without wearing makeup on the way home, thanks to big sunglasses. This may be the new way to travel!
//Try A New Fall Nail Polish//
Thanks to my Fab Fit Fun Fall Box this fall, I received a set of Londontown nail polishes. Fab Fit Fun is my favorite subscription box. You can get 20% off your first box by clicking on this link. Y’all, it’s the best box ever! It is worth the price!
Since the new polishes came in my box, I didn’t actually have to buy anything! (Since spending on the house this summer, I’ve placed myself on a very strict budget to pay off my home equity loan.)
A couple of months ago, I tried Londontown’s illuminating nail concealer and really liked it. Since purchasing it, it’s been my usual go-to. Of the three polishes in the set, the Kissed by Rose Gold, was my favorite! With my favorite top coat, Sheche Vive Gel Effect, it lasted an entire week! The topcoat is so amazing! It dries and hardens almost instantly. I keep my cabinet stocked! The Kissed by Rose Gold nail color is a neutral that goes with anything! To switch up the matchy-matchy look, I’m now wearing the rose color, Flirty and Thriving, on my toes.
//Fall Scented Body Wash//
Since 2014, I’ve been addicted to Bath and Body Work’s Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin body wash. When I open up a fresh bottle every year, the scent brings back such wonderful memories of past falls. I read once that your sense of smell can provoke the most powerful memories. I purchased all of these online when Bath and Body Works had a candle sale. The packaging is so pretty this year! I’m waiting to use the kitchen soap and to burn the fall candle until this weekend when I decorate. It’s the simple things that bring so much joy! I rarely splurge on Bath and Body Works products, so this was a rare treat. Since I budgeted for these items in advance, I can enjoy them without guilt. Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin is a non-negotiable way to start my fall season.
So why create a bucket list?
For me, a bucket list keeps me motivated to plan fun activities and check them off. It encourages documentation and memory-making. Each year, I love looking back at the previous year’s bucket list photos. One day, when we are too old for adventures, we can remember all of the fun times through our lists and our photos. Please share in the comments if you’ve completed any of the items on the bucket list!
Here’s a reminder to make life happen!
