This summer flew by! How is it that time can pass so quickly?
This summer was truly the summer of projects and self-reflection. Over the summer, I improved my home and read countless books to improve my soul, as well as my mental and physical health. Even if I didn’t make it into the pool once, it was a summer well spent.
As summer vacation abruptly ended, the new school year began. There is something so exciting about a fresh start! Although it’s been a fun first week with classes, I am beyond exhausted! There’s no tired like teacher-tired! I spent the first week going over all of the obligatory rules and procedures. But this year, I made it fun! We acted out different scenarios. Every student had the chance to participate and we all bonded. How could you not bond over laughter? I’m still so grateful for my job change. It’s really pushed me to become a better teacher. Even at year 29, I’m learning so many new things!
An attitude of gratitude is one of the greatest secrets to living a happy and fulfilling life.
MY FRIDAY FAVORITES…
~A First Day Treat~
One of my sweet students surprised me with a treat during breakfast duty. I’m loving the cuteness of the packaging. The smallest things can have the biggest impact! That chocolate bar- and the thoughtfulness behind it- really made my day! I know for sure I will have a “sweet year”. And for the record, I didn’t eat it all before lunchtime. That was a small victory!
Outfit details-
Amazon Statement Ring Set (Ya’ll, these are soooo good!)
Yellow Amazon Skirt (These are true to size, a perfect Princeton color!)
Black and Gold Bracelets (Similar)
~A Birthday Celebration~
On Monday night, we celebrated Mom’s 76 birthday. We took her out to dinner and we had the best family time! I’m so grateful that we are neighbors and that I am able to spend time with her. After her surviving the car accident this year, we are especially grateful to have her with us! I hit the jackpot when I received her as a mom!

~I Was Featured in a Book~
I was beyond excited to find out that I was featured in Johnston County’s Arts Council’s 50th anniversary book. Although I have ignored it for a long time, the universe keeps nudging me to pursue my career as an artist. It’s so hard to find the time to work, take care of a home, stay fit, and actually be an artist. Can I please have 5 more hours in my day? I am trying my best to organize my time to make room for my personal art. If you ask me to do something and I tell you that I don’t have the extra time, it’s the truth! I literally have every hour of every day scheduled. Prioritizing and carving out more time for my art will most definitely be a goal for 2024! Although it can be stressful, it’s so fulfilling to use God’s talents.
I don’t usually drink on a school night, but we popped the bubbly for this one. He even broke out the Tiffany and Co. glasses!
~My New Fall Collection~
I have new fall earrings coming out this weekend! They will be on sale for 40% off when they drop. All of my earrings are made from clay and are super lightweight. I sent an order off to Cry Freedom Missions in Roxboro this week. I just wish I had more available time to grow my art business! However, I’m over here with zero business skills and even less time to learn…

~A Two Month Carniversary~
It’s been two months since I decided to try the Carnivore Diet. Yes, I have become a meat eater. That’s a bit shocking since I’ve been a plant-based eater my entire life……
But honestly, becoming a carnivore has changed my life. I plan to do a video soon to talk about the benefits I’ve seen so far. They will blow your mind! I think I’ve never been so dedicated to anything! I even walked during the hurricane rain this week. I’ve rarely missed a day of walking in these two months. At 51, reversing aging from the inside out has become my mission. If you are interested in learning about Carnivore, start with these two experts. Dr. Ken Berry and Kelly Hogan are my favorite resources!
~Friday Date Day~
Eric and I do this thing every Friday. We call it Friday Date Day. Before school, we get coffee from Miltown Java in Princeton. I love this place! I usually order the Creecher. It’s espresso, chocolate, and raspberry. I have them make it sugar-free with unsweetened almond milk. It’s the best! We share a cheese bagel. I eat a few bites- it’s my weekly splurge. You wouldn’t believe how a bagel tastes like candy when you aren’t used to eating carbs! In the afternoon, he picks me up from school and takes me to Hinnant Vineyards. My favorite is the Chardonnay, although sometimes I’m in the mood for their Dry Rose’.
Fridays are absolutely THE BEST! These date days are a time for us to reconnect and are so valuable to our relationship. The more effort you invest, the bigger the dividends.
I hope that you all have a very safe and happy Labor Day Weekend. This is a reminder to take pictures so that you can remember all of the good times. Find the good things every week!
