Happy New Year, my friends! Isn’t a new year thrilling with all of its new possibilities?
As for goals for 2022, I have a few specific things in mind, which I’ll share later. You know I love goals! Mostly, I want to be more conscious and live more mindfully so that I can fully experience life. This past year, I was so busy and in a panic about being busy, that I forgot to stop and enjoy things.
Last night, I hadn’t really planned to celebrate. I had the very strong urge to relax with a glass of bubbly while wearing my pajamas. After finally taking down all of my Christmas decorations yesterday, the last thing I wanted to do was more decorating, just to undecorate hours later. But after a glass of wine with my sister, she encouraged me to go for it. We pulled out the big bin of black and gold decorations and before we knew it, we were feeling it. Sometimes, the hardest thing is just making the first effort to get started.
We used the same old decorations we always use. The only thing new was the giant balloon I added to the Walmart grocery order at the last minute. Even though it’s the same old stuff, it’s fun to pull out things we’d forgotten we had.
I baked my yearly champagne cupcakes…and remembered to put champagne in them. You can find the recipe here. We had a few appetizers and a lot of champagne and laughter. By the end of the night, much to the teens’ horror, we were dancing to Rump Shaker Radio and taking selfies.
I was excited that the cute velour dress from New York and Company came in the mail earlier that day. It was perfect and super comfy! It is on sale for around $16 and comes in different colors. I purchased the cutest earrings from Amazon for around $10.
Before we got together at my house, I ran next door to my sister’s to see if she needed help with anything. The teens were in the process of applying tattoos. Of course, the adults had to join the fun, too. Teens definitely keep life lively!
Once again, I’m glad we made the effort to celebrate. I have high expectations for 2022. After all, this will be the year we will finally be able to go on our honeymoon. And a vow renewal is in the works, too. How could we not ring in this year with a celebration?
I wish you all much happiness, good health, and countless blessings in this new year. May it be your best yet!
