Hi Y’all! It’s been a while.
A few weeks ago, my sister and I had a heart-to-heart over a glass of wine while enjoying one of the first warm days of spring.
It was the most fantastic day, but I was complaining to her that I couldn’t seem to find joy in anything lately. I couldn’t really remember exactly when I started feeling that way. Maybe it’s that I’ve felt so overwhelmed with work and life that I’ve had a hard time keeping my mind still enough to focus on the moments and the simple joys…or maybe it’s my constant anxiety that medicine doesn’t seem to cure…
As I looked back, I realized that the happiest times of my life were when I was writing regularly. Writing makes me feel like I have a purpose. I like organizing things, and writing is a way of organizing the constant thoughts floating around in my head. Writing gives me permission to give myself time to think about happy things, instead of all the things that need to be done, or all of the things I haven’t done well enough.
In reality, I have a pretty amazing life. And I am very grateful…but I want to feel it. I want to soak it in.
So let’s do this….
Let’s document all the stuff.
BTW, did you know that studies have shown that in only 21 days, you can be a happier person if you find three good things about each day?
Here is a list of my Friday Favorites…
The First Flowers- Over Easter break, I purchased the annual hibiscus tree. Every year, I buy a tree. Every year, I kill it. This tree is still living despite a close call due to the lack of my watering it. I can tell that this tree will be a survivor! I can’t remember the last time I took a picture of a flower. Maybe I’ll be inspired to break out my good camera!
A Man Who Changes Toilet Paper- Go ahead and laugh at this one….but when Eric stocked the bathrooms with TP and changed the empty roll, I fell in love with him all over again. My love language is having others do chores for me- and I’m not really joking…..
I love my TP holder! A similar one is linked here.
A Morning Treat- One morning, by the sign-in computer, there was homemade banana bread. I appreciated that the slices were so perfectly sliced and individually packaged! Usually, I would walk past a treat without temptation. However, homemade banana bread is a rare treat and this time, I had to indulge. Occasional treats are very important when trying to live your best healthy life! I savored every amazingly delicious morsel with a cup of coffee. (Have I mentioned that I drinking coffee without creamer these days….so shocking!) Thank you, Glenda Parks for that wonderful treat. It made my day!
My favorite EVER coffee mug is linked here.
A New Nail Polish Kit- I’ve been a happy camper with my OPI since the pandemic. There are a couple of other really good products I use along with the OPI to make my manicure last. Although cheaper than a couple of manicures, the products together are still expensive. I’m always looking out for great nail products, as new things are always coming out. Olive & June advertisements continuously popped up on my Instagram, so I finally decided to check it out. I was so impressed by the reviews and tutorials on the website, I ordered the whole kit. This is day 6 and my nails are going strong…..have I mentioned that this art teacher is rough on nails???? If this works out, it may be cheaper than my other go-to products. It looks like I’ll be doing my own birthday manicure- with wine in hand and in my pajamas, saving all the money. Can’t beat that! This post was NOT sponsored….I just love the product. For a 20% discount, you can shop through this link.
A Good Laugh- I really can’t boil eggs. I keep trying, although usually, at least one doesn’t survive. I did everything a person is supposed to do to boil eggs correctly, so I didn’t expect to find this egg when the timer went off. What do you see when you look at this egg? It reminded me of a granny with her grey hair in a bun. I laughed so hard….and it wasn’t even that funny. I’ve had many eggs crack, but I’ve never had the yolk actually squirt out.
****Stayed tuned for big news coming up soon. I’m working on a new project! ****
Happy Weekend, Y’all. I encourage you to find the favorites in your coming week!
