Goodbye, 2018!
I’ll gladly give 2018 a swift kick in the ass! 2018, you were plain old hateful. A broken arm, a missed vacation in which I worked so hard to purchase, and the sudden death of my cat child? No thank you.
2018, you were not my friend.
But as 2019 approaches, it’s time to make resolutions…
Honestly, I make the same resolutions every year…
I want to lose five pounds and be more organized. *Insert eye roll emoji*
But really, I want something more achievable and more meaningful for 2019. I’ve been struggling for inspiration and I just haven’t been feeling it. Until tonight….
While mindlessly scrolling through Facebook, I saw a post about a woman, Phyllis Sues. I was immediately inspired by this woman.
This woman made me think…
What is my motivation for living? I mean, why do I bother to get up in the morning? What am I actually contributing to life?
What is my motivation to take care of myself?
Am I doing everything I can to enjoy this one chance at life?
Am I accepting life’s challenges, or am I trying to control the circumstances in my life?
So, through *honestly* answering those questions, I’ve discovered my New Year’s resolution for 2019.
Quite simply, it’s to live every single day with purpose.
Not anyone else’s purpose...my very own purpose. What do I want out of life today?
I want to focus on the good things in every single day. I want to let go of everything negative. If I can’t think of anything good, I’ll make something good. Bubble bath, anyone?
I want to purposely grow a little every day. That means doing things that I don’t necessarily want to do-stepping outside of my comfort zone. (I’m not good at this!) This means I might camp this year. Or maybe, I’ll hike! I will stop worrying about where life takes me. I will enjoy the adventure.
I want to purposely make an effort to accept my individuality. I want to give myself permission to embrace my imperfections. I’ll always think that my thighs are too large and I’ll always be grumpy in the morning. But that makes me me.
I won’t compare my life to other’s lives. My home will never compare to the home decorating magazines that I so love to read. But I’m single. I’m on a budget. I can still enjoy reading these magazines and get ideas without feeling badly that I can’t compete.
Life isn’t a competition. I’ll make my life my own. Life is a never ending challenge because life is everchanging. These changes and challenges will make me a better person.
I’ll start each day with this quote…
Life is a game, play it; Life is a challenge, Meet it; Life is an opportunity, Capture it. ~ Unknown
What are your 2019 resolutions? Inspire me!
Happy New Year! May this be your best year yet!
