You need a holiday bar cart. Now.
Bar carts are so versatile and fun to decorate for the holidays. I was on the fence about the whole bar cart thing for a while. Although I really loved the look, I was hesitant to make a purchase because it wasn’t a necessity. Finally, I pulled the plug and purchased one. I reasoned that if nothing else, it could be used in the dining room as a dessert or beverage cart for entertaining. This smaller cart easily fits into an empty corner of the house without taking up much space and can be rolled into other rooms without a lot of effort. A bar cart is great for displaying seasonal items that would otherwise be hidden in a cabinet.
Through trial and error, I have found a formula that makes styling my bar cart quick and easy. Here’s how to style a round three-shelf bar chart (which can be found here)…
Top Shelf:
Begin by adding some favorite seasonal libations. Wine or liquor with holiday labels or appropriate colors work well. For my holiday cart, I chose to add things that mixed well with apple cider and coffee. I also threw in a bottle of my favorite Smirnoff Moscow Mule vodka, since I am really into the Moscow Mules right now. I found this vodka at the local ABC store. It’s seasonal, so stock up!
Middle Shelf:
This is a great place for a bar set (found here). I also add seasonal appetizer plates and glasses. These plates were a new purchase from Target this year. They were in the dollar spot! I can just see myself using these with my favorite cookies and apple cider spiked with Fireball!
Bottom Shelf:
This shelf is purely decorative. Don’t place anything breakable too close to the floor. Stacked books, plants, or a larger decorative piece work well.
Lastly…
Accessorize! Add smaller decorative pieces to the shelves to add color and to fill in any empty spaces. Be creative and use things that you have around the house! Or, browse Pinterest for ideas. There are so many ideas in so many different styles!
And now that you have a fabulous holiday bar cart, you need a Skinny Cranberry Moscow Mule. Now.

1 ounce of Diet Cranberry Juice
Diet Ginger Ale
Cranberries, lime slices, and Rosemary Sprigs for garnish
Pour vodka and cranberry juice over crushed ice. Fill the remainder of the cup with diet cranberry juice. Stir. Garnish with cranberries and a lime wedge.
