It’s been four years since we moved into our new house. Finally, it’s starting to feel cozy. When we moved into this house, it was two weeks before Christmas. Needless to say, we were doing well to have a tree. Since, we’ve added to our Christmas decor, a little at a time. To save money, I usually shop the after-Christmas sales. I also save money by making my own wreaths, garlands, and bows. So, let me welcome you to our home.
Let’s start outside…..
Being from the South, I always add fresh baby magnolia from our tree. It really gives the artificial greenery a new life!
Even the door in the garage gets a decoration. It’s a great place to display my Wine and Design painting. It’s a special memento that reminds me of the fun night I spent with my sister!
Now, let’s continue our tour inside of the house, where it’s warm. Step into our living room…..
I love beautiful paper! I find the best paper at our T.J. Maxx. I always buy it in November to insure the best selection. I also buy a 50-yard roll of red ribbon from the craft store. I’s enough to wrap all of my gifts for the season.
Extra small gifts that usually get lost around the tree can be placed around the house for decorations. Just don’t forget where you put them!
Several of the large mirrors are adorned with wreathes during the holiday season.
The dining room is decked in bright red and green for the holidays. On the table, I use the same runner, but add ornaments to the china cabinet and bows to the candle sticks. Many times, I can use everyday items and embellish them a little to make them festive for the holidays.
The powder room is decorated in red and black for the season.
The catwalk is dressed in a lighted garland. This was very simple to make. First, I attached the lights to a simple green garland. Then, I added ribbon and wired on ornaments. I like to buy the jumbo packages of ornaments from Walmart. Bows were added to each end of the railing. By making this garland myself, I saved lots of money!
