I am finding that I have an addiction that is very difficult to control. My obsession with subscriptions is strengthening with each box that arrives in the mail. I love the anticipation of a delivery! When I know that something is soon to arrive, I visit the mail box every hour. Once I find that glorious item in my mailbox, it’s all I can do to restrain myself from skipping down the driveway, with glee, towards the house to open it. The excitement of receiving something in the mail takes me back to my first pen-pal experience. While in the fifth grade, I entered a pen-pal program at school. My pal was a girl of my same age from Germany. As soon as I received her address, I wrote my first letter and mailed it off. Every day for a month, I’d run to my mailbox to check for the letter that I knew she’d send in return. Even though the letter was sent in a different language, I wasn’t disappointed because the feeling of anticipation had been so fantastic. Today, even though I am much older, I still have the same thrill whenever I see something other than a bill in my mailbox. My subscription addiction was in full swing a few swing a few weeks ago when I ordered my first Wantable.com box.
I learned about Wantable while browsing online. The Wantable box is delivered monthly. You have the options of choosing a box filled with makeup, accessories, or intimate apparel. Since I already receive an e.l.f. makeup subscription, and I really don’t care for the intimate apparel, I chose to order the accessories. Before I could choose my box, I had to create a personalized profile. I filled out a questionnaire to help discover my likes and dislikes. Once the questionnaire was filled out and the purchase was completed, a stylist chose the items for the box, based on my preferences. I could select a yearly subscription for $36.00 per box, or a one-time box for $40.00. I like that you can return the items if you don’t care for them. Also, if you choose the yearly subscription, you may cancel or skip shipments at any time. Since I didn’t want to commit without trying first, I chose to buy the $40.00 box.
These are the items that were included:
The Lena Earrings~ I rarely buy silver earrings. Usually, when I buy accessories, I choose something that I specifically need to coordinate with a certain outfit. I have worn these earrings several times in the last week. How did they know I needed these?! These earrings are valued at $14.00. I felt that the value was very appropriate.
The Jasmine Earrings~ I have been loving gold accessories this season! After the nineties, I took a break from gold accessories. Remember those thick gold chains and nugget watches? I wore enough gold in those days to last a lifetime, or so I thought. These gold earrings are quickly becoming a staple in my wardrobe. They seem to go with everything. These gold hoops were a winner! These earrings are valued at $16.00.
The Annette Necklace~ This is the type of statement necklace that I adore! It is a show-stopper. I anticipate wearing this with may different things. Recently, I chose to wear it with a grey t-shirt, boyfriend jeans, and tan sandals. Although one would think that it screams “special occasion”, it can easily be worn with casual outfits. It was my favorite piece of jewelry in the box. The necklace is valued at $41.00. I would expect to pay that at a department store.
The Maisy Midi Ring~ This ring was my least favorite accessory. Actually, I would have liked it, if it had been a normal ring. I was disappointed to discover that it was a midi ring. What is that??? A midi ring is designed to wear between your middle knuckle and fingertip. I’m just not a midi-ring kind of girl. Not only did it look odd to me, wearing something in that unusual region of the finger would have driven me insane! This ring was placed directly in the yard-sale pile. The good thing? I was able to revisit my Wantable profile and un-choose the ring option. In my next shipment, I will receive no rings. Better safe than sorry! The midi ring is valued at $12.00. Because the quality didn’t seem to meet my expectations, I would’t have paid that much for it.
Although I didn’t love this subscription as much as the e.l.f and FabFitFun (you can find those reviews here and here), I still felt that is was a value. The total value of the box was $83.00. I would have easily paid $40.00 for the necklace, alone, at a department store. So, I felt as if I were getting the other items for free. Because I am on the fence about whether or not I want to commit to a full year long subscription, I have decided to give Wantable.com one more chance. Subscriptions are always great if you are adventurous! I love trying new things that I wouldn’t ordinarily purchase. You can’t expect to love single item in every subscription. But, if you keep an open mind, you will find new things you love!
Have you tried a subscription yet? If so, what is your favorite?
