Where is the sunshine?
Earlier this week, I was soaked by a torrential downpour while walking out to my car with a cart full of groceries. Every single day has been a horrible hair day, thanks to my outside morning duty. It’s been one of those weeks! I’ve just wanted to put on pajamas and wrap up in a blanket every day after work. I crave sunshine and cool crisp air now that it is officially fall.
Despite the depressing dreariness, there were five bright spots in this week…
1. A Pampered Chef Party- I was invited to a super-fun Pampered Chef party. It was nice to get out of the house. Even better, my bestie rode with me to the party and my BF made an appearance when he got off of work. We ate a microwaved (yes, microwaved) chocolate lava cake that was to die for and we ordered some neat gadgets. I took a picture with a real dead bear. It was a good night. Really, I need to get out more often.
2.The Best Blueberry Muffin Ever- Apparently, food makes me happy because tasty treats always stand out as some of the best parts of my week. One of the teachers at school gave me the best blueberry muffin I’ve ever eaten. It had crumbles on top. Anything with crumbles rules. Since I’d already eaten the chocolate cake on an earlier day, I felt a little guilty for indulging again. Then, I decided that, sometimes, I just need to “live it up”.
3. Fall, Y’all! It’s my favorite time of the year. Although I’m holding off until October 1st to start decorating my house, we couldn’t wait in the art room. There has been an explosion of cheesy fall decorations in my classroom, as well a ton of fall projects happening. I’m lovin’ it!
4. A Sweet Note- I don’t always get notes, but when I do, I truly appreciate them. I especially love it when my kids create art at home. That makes me a proud teacher!
5. New Wine- Eric and I love trying new wine. After last weekend’s Costco trip, we found a few new reasonably priced favorites. This was last night’s selection. I’m always a sucker for a pretty bottle as well as anything gold. It was a winner. Notice Smokey in the background. He loves riding my new bar stools. #wierdo
As this week comes to an end, with a fun weekend ahead, I’m so grateful to finally feel like my old self. It was exactly a year ago that this divorce stuff started. Instead of feeling terribly sad as divorce approaches, I feel like I’ve come full circle. Life goes on. I believe that when something is taken from you, other things come along to take the place of what was lost. After the rain, the sun always shines.
Remember to find the sunshine in your own week!
