It’s been a while since I’ve done a Favorite Five Friday. Here are a few of my past FFFs. I’ve noticed that when I don’t reflect on my week, my week seems to blend into all of the other weeks that pass. It’s good to reconnect with yourself at the end of each week to count your blessings. As today is September 11, I am especially grateful for all that I do have. So many lost their lives years ago. I still pray for all of the families that lost loved ones and for all that were affected by the tragedy. God Bless.
So, this week, I spent a lots of time filling nail holes and painting the molding in our upstairs rooms. It’s been on the to-do list all summer, but I had a hard time finding the motivation. I simply wasn’t feeling it…especially when there was backyard pool fun to be had. To me, that type of painting is not fun. I don’t like to feel forced to stay in the lines when I paint. However, the impressionist look isn’t great for architectural details. Since I didn’t finish with my painting, it looks as if that will be on my to-do list for next week, too. Yuck.
Here are my favorite things from this week….
My Graduation. Yes! I took my final exam this week. I am now a Certified Holistic Health Coach! Pinch me now! As soon as I can get together all of my business stuff, I can start seeing clients! I’d been saving a bottle of my favorite Duplin Almondage for that very occasion. I did mix a little pineapple juice with it since, technically, it was breakfast. Don’t judge.
Sister Time. This past week, I went with my sister to her doctor’s appointment. We were able to eat lunch at Cowfish in Raleigh. I love that place! Even better than the sushi (and wine for lunch…what a treat!) was spending time with my sister. Life gets so busy, we don’t often have time to chat. Note to self: make time for my sisterpants.
A Note. One of my dear friends, Sherry, stopped by the art room the other day to give me a simple note. Sherry is always a ray of sunshine. Her positivism inspires me. It’s amazing how an act so small can make you feel so warm with love and joy.
Kleenex. You know you’re a teacher when you get excited over Kleenex. Usually, in the art room, we use toilet paper because it’s much cheaper for me to purchase. Sometimes, the kids freak out over using toilet paper in the classroom. I explain that it’s not tp. Rather, it’s super-cool tissue on a roll! Somehow, they aren’t convinced. My friend, Beth, stopped by the art room this morning to donate a box of tissue. We will feel so rich and fancy when we blow our noses with real Kleenex! It’s the small things, people!A Better To-Do List. My old system wasn’t working for me. I’d have things jotted all over different papers with a zillion sticky notes stuck to those papers. I’d find lost sticky notes everywhere…..in my purse, in the car, on the sidewalk, and on my butt. Finding a sticky note on my butt was the final straw. So this week, I carved out a few minutes to make myself a respectable weekly to-do list. It’s helped tremendously. I made a Get it done download for you! Or, maybe it will inspire you to create one of your own. It really did make life easier for me. Yes, calling for a Botox appointment was on my list today. That’s what you call a priority. Remember to count your favorite things this week. Remember those involved in 9/11. Don’t forget the small stuff!
